2015 Residential Grants

Our façade grant program consists of awarding a matching grant to assist homeowners who take on an exterior project to restore and preserve the historic beauty and attributes of their residence. In 2015, the grant committee selected two properties deserving of the grant.

The first was awarded to Pat and Tammy Elliott for the improvements and restoration of the porch on their stately home located at 419 Scioto St. in Urbana. The Elliotts have shown a wonderful example of updating a historic property to fit today’s family needs while preserving the original attributes of the home.  The second was awarded to the Bry Home located 112 E. Reynolds St. in Urbana. The Brys tackled the repair of crumbling steps to the entry and are repairing an original chimney to the home.

Congratulations and a BIG THANK YOU to both recipients for their care and hard work.

The Champaign County Preservation Alliance strongly encourages and supports the efforts of homeowners who want to partake in an exterior project to enhance or protect the historical integrity of their home. We are once again offering matching residential façade grants for the 2016 year.  Interested parties may contact Dusty Hurst for addition-al information at 937-869-0970 or to receive an application. Applications may also be picked up at the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce.

Applications are due by June 30, 2016. To qualify, the project must be on the exterior of a 1940’s or pre-1940’s home.
