The 2015 Home and Garden Tour was a big success despite an unseasonably cold, rainy Saturday. The tour featured Urbana, showcasing six homes, three gardens, a business, and the Johnny Appleseed Museum. There were new visitors from surrounding states, and as close as Columbus and Dayton who discovered our beautiful architecture and learned about our rich local history. We would like to thank our benefactors, The Peoples Savings Bank and Bundy Baking Solutions, as well as the many area merchants who donated merchandise for our raffle baskets and placed ads in the program. Many local artists and crafters also participated in the tour. Most importantly, we would also like to thank the leadership committee as well as the countless volunteers who gave many hours to the organization to make sure every visitor had a positive experience. The 2015 tour netted over $8,000 for facade grants to area homeowners and businesses.
It is also important to mention the passing of two very important committee members, Bob Wetzel, who did many behind the scenes tasks, and Londa Schwierking, who organized many merchant donations into the beauti-ful raffle baskets. Both will be missed this year, and the committee is grateful for their many years of hard work.
