Façade Grants

The CCPA is currently accepting commercial and residential façade grant applications for 2017.  We are excited to be able provide funds we have raised throughout the year for the preservation of Champaign County’s historic structures.  There will be two commercial grants; one for up to $1,000 for cosmetic façade restoration, and one for up to $5,000 for major structural façade restoration.  There will be two residential grants for up to $1,000 each.

Guidelines and grant applications are available at the below link and at the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce.  Deadline for submission is May 31, 2017.  Grants will be awarded June 30, 2017.

In 2016, we awarded commercial façade grants to four businesses located in Urbana (Carmazzi’s, Cosby Insurance Agency, Masonic Temple, and Tommy Brooks) totaling $3,600.  We awarded residential façade grants to five homes located in Urbana, and one in Mechanicsburg totaling $5,000.

In 2015, we had one recipient for the Downtown Facade Grant. It was a $1,000 matching grant awarded to the GrandWorks Foundation for the Gloria Theater. This grant helped replace existing marque lights with new, energy efficient bulbs. Thank you to the GrandWorks foundation for the ongoing effort to keep the Gloria Theater as a viable part of Historic Urbana!

CCPA also awarded an additional grant to Monument Square District for a project to encourage the revitalization of the Historic Downtown. A $5,000 matching grant was given to help raise money for Legacy Park on the southeast corner of Monument Square. Peoples Savings Bank and Security National Bank were corporate partners in this project. Legacy Park is an effort to encourage pedestrian traffic to stop and enjoy the historic downtown, as well as serve as a gathering place for the many downtown events.
